Meet Chris Albers
I was born and raised in Kiester, Minnesota, and later moved to rural Walters, Minnesota, in the 1990s. I graduated from United South Central High School in 2004 and then attended Riverland Community College in Albert Lea, where I completed the two-year Diesel Technology program. After graduating, I began working full-time as a diesel mechanic at Kibble Implement in Minnesota Lake.
In 2008, I decided to pursue a career in law enforcement and returned to Riverland Community College in Austin to earn my Law Enforcement degree. In 2010, I successfully completed the Rochester Technical Skills Program.
Throughout college and the skills program, I continued working as a diesel mechanic at S&H Diesel in Wells, beginning in 2009. The business was later acquired by Dulas Diesel & Repair in 2019. I continued working as a mechanic whenever my law enforcement schedule allowed until transitioning to my current investigator position in 2024.
I began my law enforcement career with the City of Elmore in a full-time temporary position. As that assignment was coming to an end, I started training part-time with the Faribault County Sheriff’s Office in 2012 before being hired full-time by the Wells Police Department later that year. In 2013, I accepted a full-time position with the Faribault County Sheriff’s Office as a Road Deputy.
As a Road Deputy, I gained valuable experience in investigations, teamwork, and public service while working under strong leadership. During this time, I also became involved with providing trainings to local Fire and EMS departments such as ARMER radio and mapping classes. I eventually assumed responsibility for coordinating training and presenting with others members of the Sheriff’s Office.
In 2024, I was assigned as an Investigator with the Faribault County Sheriff’s Office, a position I currently hold. In addition to my investigative responsibilities, I assist the Sheriff with various administrative functions and serve as Deputy Director of Emergency Management. My duties include fleet purchasing and management, overseeing squad vehicle builds and equipment installation, budgeting, coordinating the sale of county vehicles and equipment, participating in jail and dispatch operations meetings, radio programming, and oversight of county security systems installation.
Community involvement has always been an important part of my career. I have provided fraud and scam awareness presentations for local senior centers and assisted living facilities, partake in Shop with a Cop and Faribault County Fair events, and organized other community events such as Trunk-or-Treat and Community Night Out in partnership with local Fire and EMS agencies.I participated in youth education such as Lura Lake Youth Day, United South Central Career Day, the Blue Earth Area Mock Crash, and the Blue Earth Area School Carnival.
Throughout my law enforcement career, I served as a Taser Instructor from 2013 to 2024 and currently serve as a TacMed Instructor. I have attended numerous professional training courses and conferences to continually enhance my knowledge and skills. In addition to my service with the Sheriff’s Office, I have also been a member of the Easton and Wells Fire Departments.
I have dedicated my career to serving the residents of Faribault County and have always sought opportunities to learn, grow, and better serve my community. I am passionate about public service and deeply appreciate both the residents of our county and the individuals who dedicate their lives to serving it.
My wife, Shannon, and I reside in rural Wells with our two children, Gavin and Alivia. Our children attend the United South Central School District and are active in a variety of sports and activities. Our family has deep roots in Faribault County as both of our families have been established here for generations. We are grateful for the many opportunities and blessings this community has provided.
As I look to the future, I remain committed to serving Faribault County with integrity, professionalism, and dedication. If elected as Sheriff, I will continue to work to strengthen community trust, support our public safety professionals, and ensure the Sheriff’s Office continues to serve the citizens of Faribault County with excellence.
